I'm hoping someone might give me a hint why this is happening and how I could fix it: while driving the car computer (the GPS screen) and the radio turns off by itself and it then re-boots. This has happened multiple times. The car performance and drivability does not seem to be affected - only there is a warning that auto braking during park may be affected. The radio goes off at the same time. Sometimes, the radio turns itself off before the GPS screen does.
This all seems to be happening randomly, as I could not find anything that might trigger the event. After I turn off the ignition and re-start it, there is no check message stored. |

Hi bimmiup....this may be an electrical issue with a short causing this. I would suggest plugging in your car and see what codes it throws back at you. I've attached a tech article which details what each codes means. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to post a Comment just below the article and someone will get back to you with more detailed, tech info. Hope this helps and best of luck!

Sounds to me it's a loose connection or grounding of the radio/screen head unit. If car drivability is not affected, it is a local issue. But transient issues are hard to diagnose because you can't reproduce it for tracing. But if I were you:
1) Check & even replace the radio fuse 2) Pull out radio/head unit and check plug connection 3) Check all connections to DSP/amp in trunk (if equipped) 4) Idle car with radio on, then giggle plugs/wires (behind radio & in trunk if amp) to see if you can get radio to cut out.... 5) Maybe the actual head unit that has become unstable. Check with wreckers for a replacement. Good luck. |
