Question E36 racecar wire removal & rewire?

Need some tips from the experts on racecar wiring; or better yet removing the un-needed & unwanted wires from my JP project E36 4door 92' 325i.

Here's where I am on this: Car is stripped clean & WCTC cage is welded in place. I don't have LEXAN windows yet so power windows & power locks are still connected. I want to remove the mess of wires that are no longer needed.

TRUNK forward ... pulled everything except taillights ... but had to cut them at the hood release area since they these wires tied into other bundle there.

DOORS: Left in place the wires for door locks & power windows. I'm thinking of pulling all these (need some opinions here). May wait till I get the lexan replacements.

OVERHEAD: Pulled all wires for sunroof & interior lights ... but stopped at the ABS computer area since I can't see where the bundle goes from here?

CLIMATE CONTROL: this is the problem area I need the most help with. HOW DO I REMOVE the entire big blower box? Looks like it migt be held to the firewall with some bolts that have metal locks around the heads? Can't reach this from engine compartment. OR do I take torks driver and disassemble the vent / climate control box?

.... Once I get that big black vent/climate/heaterblower box removed I might see more of the wire harnesses to unplug that mess of wires for the radio / heater / climate ... etc.

DASH: cluster has been removed & I plan to initially install autometer Tach & gauges .. maybe Pi Research or some other digital data acq. dash later. Should I leave cluster harnes? I think it might be usefull later ??

THE BIG QUESTION -- what is common .. do people cut the un-needed wires and then what? OR is there a way to disconnect these harnesses downstream somewhere? I'm not able to see and don't know if all these wires end up in one bundle or if they can be unlugged someplace deep inder the dash?

ANY suggestion would be helpful. Obviously this car will never again go on the street. Also wonder if may be I should rewire the whole car .. but given the ABS computer & ECU etc I don't know how good of an idea that is .. by the way I'm not rich, just dumb ;-)

Good questions. I am building a PRO3 e30 (kind of like a Spec e30) and the wife drives a e36 328is on the track (gutted, a/c delete, the stereo and sunroof are next)
Looking at things I will never need like the washer reservoir level sensor, I think the best bet will be to unwrap the harness and trace it back to the source. I think most thing end up either at the relay board or fuse panel. If things are cut, the risk of shorts increases.
I am not quite ready to start on the wiring yet so keep me posted on how it goes.

One thing you might want to check on... I saw in the SCCA rukes that you cannnot remove the original wiring harness only disconnect it. It can be disconnected but not removed from the vehicle. I saw this as I was checking different rules for different classes, dont know if it pplies to your class or not but it did in mine. Street Prepared
