Balancing TBs how many turns on the brass screw to start with?
I am working my way through some fine tuning on my new to me '99 R1100S, and I know these bikes are a little different than other R1100's, they use the Ma2.4 instead of 2.2 and a few other differences. I haven't been able to find any info specific to these bikes re: how many turns out the brass air bleed screws should be when performing the zero-zero TPS adjustment. I have read the RT should be 1.5 turns, the GS about 2.25 turns out...
What should our S bikes be set to to start with? Thanks!

I have a 2004 R1100S.
My motorcycle is probably different from everyone else's in the world but, My BBS is only 3/4 turn out from seated. 3/4 turn out from seated. I had to go out to the garage with a screwdriver to make sure. I have an Ma2.4. This is the third time I edited my post. I hope I don't have to balance this thing .

My BBSs were only 5/8 turn out, WOW! I pulled them out and cleaned them and the ports, were quite black with carbon and put them back in 1.5 turns. Started the bike and set the balance by adjusting the right side stop screws, got perfect balance then set the RPM by fine tuning the BBSs, and guess what, I ended up at 1.25 turns, cool. Made the mid range balance by adjusting the cables and it now is pretty well balanced using my DIY manometer. It's 1/4" tubing and I get perfect balance at idle and no more than about 2" difference up to 3500 RPM. Happy with that. Thanks for the help. Cheers

Unless the brake lines have been replaced, it's highly recommended that they be replaced.
After market are a good choice.

if the throttle bodies and butterfly edges are clean they will be fewer turns
you might clean the bodies |
