R1100s Lazer exhaust question.

Guess it's spelled Laser. Was out for 4-5hrs a few days ago and about half way through the exhaust got much louder and the bike didn't run as good. Rougher idle, couple of hick-ups.
Ran perfect before I left.
Doesn't look like the Laser exhaust is repackable. No exhaust leaks. Any ideas?

Interesting as I've had one on mine since 2006-7 with no problems. I don't ride softly & haven't noticed any real sound difference. Do you also have the Laser chip? I'd be looking at something going out of tune or adjustment; plugs, timing, sync, valves? How many miles, year & do you have repair/service records? They're not repackable as far as I know.

2004 with Laser chip. 16,000 miles, all detailed service records. It's been taken care of. Something happened for sure. What's odd is the louder exhaust. At the same time as it's seemed out of tune state. It idles, but barely.

Being an '04 I'd start with checking the stick coils as they seem to be infamously lousy. Other causes could be burnt valve but you don't have many miles or maybe a valve adjuster backed off, HES is dying, have fun.

Maybe you just blew an exhaust seal.

Plugs all look great. Doesn't seem quite as loud today. I think I'll balance the TB's.

The pipe is the 2-1-2. All connections from front to rear seem tight/sealed. The exhaust on left(as you look from behind) has a bit more pressure, and is a tad louder than the right. But it's a straight line at the end as a pose to the turns the other side makes. I think that's how it was before.

Cleaned the air filter, adjusted idle, synced the throttle bodies. Much better now.

Ride the bike for the next two weeks and check again..it will need re-syncing again...that’s the way it is.

Frankly there are so many mods that can be done too this bike that can drag it into the 21st century the list is endless...including 1200 injector jets, do a search they are another game changer.

Not necessarily true Chris. I hadn't synced mine for quite awhile before installing the 1200 injectors & just riding it for a month or so. I finally decided to check the sync seeing as I'd replaced the injectors & found they were still just fine even with the swap. Truly only check them once a year or so & even then they're barely off if any. My bike doesn't sit long, I ride often & switch between 3 bikes constantly.

Ran much better but not like it used to. Checked coils, and sure enough one was bad. Replaced both, adjusted idle, synced throttle bodies again and Bingo! Runs better than ever. Thanks to all for help.

Is your lever arm standard or short??
Color scheme looks great, never seen it before, very nice.

Thanks. I didn't install it, but the original came with the bike. I'll check later tonight.

Those torque arms were sold by Pirates Lair. they are the shorter version that raises the rear of the bike up a bit. Here's an old thread.
