Conti Road Attacks?
I think there's a couple versions these days...

I've been using Bridgestone Hypers S22 on several other bikes including the track bikes. Of course, the selection is strictly preferential and would be based on your riding style.

Can be difficult to source and certainly not in the bargain budget friendly category.

Avon Storm 3D X-M AV66.

180/55/ZR17 - 190/55 ('02 Prep/'99 Dymag 6")

Just installed another set on my '02 prep whch has the larger (5.5) rear wheel option. Have used Bridgestone, Dunlop, Metzeler, Michelin, Pirelli and keep coming back to these. IMO - they're absolutely peerless as an all around long life sport touring tire with impeccable handling characteristics, commonly getting well past 7k miles per set. As a family, we're far from milquetoast throttle pansies. Another very noticeable benefit aside from longevity and grip is the fantastic ride quality. Nothing, so far - comes close.

Just burned through a set of Michelin Road 5 GT's which were comparatively and surprisingly.... abysmal.... disappointing.

Again;

JMO/YMMV

Bridgestone S22's here also, I have them on 3 out of 4 bikes with the 4th being a 12GS with Pirelli Angel GT's which surprised me with their grip as every other sport/touring tire was a huge disappointment from Michelin, Dunlop & Bridgestone.

Dunlop Roadsmarts here, love the grip, wish they lasted a bit longer [4-5000 miles-ish].

Putting on a freshy next week for the Labor Day adventure.

I had never used these but were on the BCR I just bought and I actually am very much impressed with them. Even seem to be lasting really well after 2500kms so far.

I just installed a set of S22's on my HP2, but have not ridden with them yet. I was very impressed with the S21's, so figured I would try the newer version.
Michelin Pilot Road 5's only lasted about 4000km's on the front and developed a weird feeling when cornering hard.

Cheers

You'll like them, a neutral handling very sticky tire. I normally get 4-5k out of a set.

Round and black ones, you'd have to try hard to buy a bad tire these days unless you go with some cheapo Chinese rubber. I've run Cont, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Dunlop, and Michelins all good. I always go for the ones on sale. Got great deals on great tires by not being to brand conscious.

Ridgetopboy hit the nail on the head: “round and black ones”. They probably don’t even need to be black. Late 20th-century tire technology is to motorcycle safety what penicillin is to the clap: makes a dangerous activity less so.

I've tried several tires on my '99, Metzeler's, Continental but found Michelin PR's gave me great grip, as did the others, however the Michelin's give me 9000 plus miles per set. They're expensive but the mileage ofset the cost in my opinion.
