Harsh law for french motorcyclists

A couple of decades ago in France, the socialist government decided that riders were having far too much fun on their bikes. So they put in a law that forbade motorcycles from having more than 100 hp!

So, despite the European Union wanting equality between nations, France continues "downgrading" motorcycles to 100hp. So far, not really a big problem, since you could quite easily reinstate the motorcycle to it's original power - as just about every French rider did.

The French Parliament voted a new law last Thursday (in stealth mode), that if you're caught with a motorcycle over 100hp, you'll get 2 year gaol, 30,000 euro (almost $50,000 AUS) fine and your motorcycle confiscated! Obviously this only applies to French registered motorcycles. If you have a foreign registered bike, you can visit and use your 180 hp bike at any time.

Motorcycling rights and law ridiculousness is on attack around the globe.

Thats o.k., the squids keep it up and we'll be lucky if we don't have the same law here before it is all said and done...

Too bad they allow foreign registered bikes in there. We could move over there and take over that country with our german machines!

Oops, I guess that's been done already...

ROLF ! Nice one ... ))

To add to what is already been said about this law and the french rider's reaction to that, more and more bike sellers refuse to remove the power limitation when a customer ask for it.
Some of them have alreday been judged guilty in some cases, thinking they were responsible for high speed crashs and so on ...

Some say squid means squirrelly kid. Others say it's because they go fast in a straight line briefly, then slow in corners. Typically in tennis shoes, shorts, t-shirt as above. You guys in Maine deal more with lobster...

Do we have that kind of relationship ? I may not be aware because I live in the north.
Do we really have an ancestral revalry ?
I thought we french were just jealous of your cars, weather, beautiful women, wonderful food, skilled racers, twisty roads, nice landscapes ... Alright we do have a revalry then ... )))
