World's Fastest Indian
I know I am a bit behind the times...but that's the way it always is.
I just saw World's Fastest Indian last night. Good story. Feel good movie, nothing too deep. What impressed me most about Burt Munroe is that he built the bike mostly by himself. Going so far as to forge his own pistons (at least according to the movie). I also like the fact that there were lots of old bikes and cars in the movie.

Yeah! I was a little incredulous of that but it made for a good story.

What's more impressive is that those records he set still stand to this day I think.

You couldn't pry my teenage boys away from the TV while watching that movie. They would rather be playing on their playstation!!

Yes a good story but not a great movie IMO. Better than the Motorcycle Diaries for certain.

I thought it was more like a documentary/biography than a Hollywood movie... Which is why I liked it...

The wife and saw it last week. She was mad when I came home with it,(she is not into bikes too much) but after watching, she said it was one of the best movies she has ever seen and I agree. I think it`s a great story about life that happens in involve motorcycles.
Later, Lane

one of the best movies either of you have ever seen? Dont get out much down there in SC? Heat have ya trapped in the house for the last 20 years? Just kidding. While I found it an interesting and mostly entertaining film, it should have lasted 1 hr, lots of waste could have been cut and it just never really developed into much of a story. More time shoudl have been spent on his character at the salt flats and interaction with the other racers who did go to bat for him etc. I truly dont believe they just saw him and decided to help convince the officials to let him run. Not a great movie by any stretch, not a bad one either. Just an interesting flick mostly due to my interest in motorcycles etc.

There are at least two books out about Bert (or Burt as he came to be known). Indian Legend of Speed and One Good Run. Both need to be read to better appreciate Burts comittment and single mindedness.
He did quite a bit more than go fast in straight lines. The movie is a compilation of almost a decade of trips that he made to the lake and entirely glosses over his other achievements. And he fairly alienated most of his family in the process. Quite a character was Burt. Jim
