Arai Helmet Loose Lower Trim Strip

Hi Everyone,
I just found out that Arai has launched a voluntary effort to correct the problem that they had with loose lower trim strips on some of their helmets. And I also noticed that this coming week is the last one to get free return shipping on your warranty claim.

So if like me you were a little disappointed when your helmet started coming apart, click here for more details: http://www.araiamericas.com/news_1.html

Seth

Thanks for the heads-up Seth...I've had a piece of tape holding it on for 6 months.

They should really recall all of the helmets that have exploding side panels and ackward shield changing mechanisms.

FYI - Arai is going to be allowing sales of their helmets on-line again. I wonder if the Motorcyclist article hurt their market share? Or maybe its an acknowledgement that you can buy a helmet every bit “as good” as an Arai, for significantly less, and from many different manufacturers.

Back in the day it was pretty easy to justify spending and extra $ 100 or so on and Arai, now the spread seems to be about $ 300 - $500 more for an Arai.

Thanks for the heads up.. I will have to send my used $75 arai in for repair. That strip is somewhere in the garage or office right now.
I wonder if they will replace the chin vent that has broken twice...

I was a bit disappointed with Arai when my strip fell out but in addition my front air vent fell off too. I hope they will replace that also.
Thanks.

Thanks for the tip SethK.

I've had my Arai RX-7RR4 for 21 Months now...it's the best so far in terms of ventilation and has no problems so far.

In the past I've had an Arai F-1, Arai Quantum-E, and Arai Signet GT...all were fine helmets except the Signet GT had a weak Face Shield that broke apart behind the Mechanism Cover. The Quantum-E had broke Chin Vent problem too.

I typically replace my Helmet every 5 years.

I got my Arai RX-7RR4 from Derby Cycles (http://www.derbycycles.com/)...it was a fair price ($361.98 w/Clear & Smoke Face Shield) and was shipped promptly.

Glad to hear Arai is doing on-line sales again...I've been a loyal Arai customer for most of my riding career.

Bwahahah, guess what happened to my arai THIS morning? how did they know my chin strip would come loose precicely on October the 2nd? haha. just my luck. guess i'll have to cough up the $30 roundtrip for my brain bucket.

Arai has made special arrangements with "The UPS Stores®" to pack and ship helmets at no charge through 09/29/06. Helmets shipped on or after October 2, 2006 would revert to the normal warranty program procedures.
