Preferences and why...

... do BMW riders own and shoot what they shoot?

An AMA demographic shows that many AMA members fav. pass time is shooting. Very high actually. I dont hunt with any of my firearms.... unless being hunted!

I enjoy competing in IDPA and Glock (pistol) matches. More challenging to me than long rifle competitions. Clay pigeon and skeet is great for hand eye coordination too.

They are many preferences for personal and home protection, sporting, concealment, and collection of antique firearms.

Steyr and Glock are my favorite handguns. Love the M1 Garand (WW2). Also enjoy the .57 Enfield (Civil War).

What do other BMW riders enjoy shooting?

The only thing I've started shooting with so far is a Nikon D90, but that's for a different thread. Alas, I own/shoot no firearms.

Interesting,i stopped racing an enduro bike in my early 30's,a combination of one to many trips over the bars and a job that required more of my time, just riding a road bike wasn't going to fill the gap,i went claying shooting, mainly what is called Sporting but shot in the world FITASC championship in France, and at one stage was getting through over 20,000 shells a year, always used an old Browning auto with 28/30/32" barrels depending what i needed,i still have e'm.

N8,

Time to try a 1911, Wilson, Les Baer, Springfield Arm, etc. No more Glocks for me. YMMV.

I just spend minimal time at the range and shoot HK 40 and 45 Beretta 9, and Glock 9.

Not much for skeet.

Years ago I would shoot recurve bows and long bows.. that is about it. Compounds are fun, love the engineering but never got into shooting them.

Only hunted squirrels once with a 22...

I do love hunting on the larger paint ball fields

I still target shoot a bit with old miltary type guns. As for pistols....My 1911 hasn't been out of the safe in years..

Another recurve shooter here.... I love to watch the feathers fly.... I make my own arrows from port orford cedar shafts, flemish bowstrings, and have even built a few take down recurves.
My bow of choice is a custom takedown the J.K. Chastain built for me.
Hunting with a bow places real limits on you that mean you have to actually hunt.

Paintball is fun too... we use slingshots...

Our favorite arms are the various military bolt action Mausers in all the calibers except the Siamese types.

Of course if something else happens to go bang, we like it too.

i haven't owned a car in five years. and it's sort of awkward riding to the range with a rifle strapped to the back of the bike. los angeles is prejudiced against things like that. so when i go shooting, it's mostly handguns.

have everything from a cap and ball colt navy, to a beretta 92f. all fun. this is the favorite toy. not the gun i'd take on a bank robbery, but still fun to shoot....

I am with TM1100S on this one, lots to be said.

I have a few pistols, my favorite to shoot is a S&W Model 624 .44 special revolver. I can always hit the dot with that one. I have a few semi autos I shoot, my favorites are the Sig P229 .40 and a CZ 2075 Rami 9mm.

My favorite rifles to shoot are my old Yugoslavian 8mm Mauser and my AR-15.

With the Mauser it makes lots of noise, big hole in what I shoot, and surplus ammo is cheap. AR-15 is just fun because it is so light and accurate. We were out yesterday, a friend took the pic. I am on the right.

Phillip,
Did you sell the 1100S and start a new project, or decide to keep her ?

Wow, right on. Surprised at how many Ca. replies here. Maybe I just dont know enough about laws out there...

@ 600 yds. dropped a 7in. steel plate

Steyr S9 Compact (just sold it)

Okay fine... a few of the toys. Only what could be carried in two trips out of the house. If its more than two trips to the truck. I take the others next go round.

Just picked up a "1st generation" FN PS90. Fires the very very hot 5.7 cal. round.

Glad to see we all have something more than motorcycles and chicks in common.

Still have the S and yes, it is a keeper. Still need to fine tune fuel. Maybe have my extra set of cams welded up to R1200S specs. By the way, anyone know what the R1200 specs are?

Shoot once in a blue moon using various friends various target pistols (and truly rarely, a friend of a friend's .50cal at his ranch. Big and heavy and tripoded as it is, it still hurts my little chicken wrists. Been thinking about picking up my own little .22 target pistol, mostly just for fun.
Inexpensive (honda nighthawk equivalent) recommendations welcome.

> and at one stage was getting through over 20,000 shells a year

HOLY crap that is a lot of experience and practice. And it sounds like good results too.
Impressive!

My only extensive experience is the old M16 back in my 4 years each of Army and Guard service.
Bleecch and good riddance to all 3.
