That was not even the dirtiest it looked on this trip, Ron... when coming off the Dempster, you'd have had a hard time recognizing it as a motorcycle, let alone what kind... This was just off the Dalton with a little rain and then the watering down of the dust roads... which creates a mud-fest.

I am, Russ... right now I am having a blast in Whitehorse. I went to the little town of Atlin on Sunday and there, I visited an old cemetary. On many of the head"stones" (being that they were all made of wood) there were not just names but also age and the cause of death noted.
What a moving experience it was to me. There was the grave site of two babies, born to the same Japanese family, one year apart… on living 2 days and one a few months. There was the grave of the Mail Carrier who drowned while delivering the mail, age 23… or the 17 year old boy who was shot, because he was mistake for a bear. Many did not live long enough to have a family, some made it to mid-age and a few lived to be very old… It was something that made me think quite a bit again, sombering and showing how harsh it must have been to live here a hundred years ago… considering hat it still is not easy to make it around here… even with all the technology that surrounds us nowadays. At the other side of the street, there was a street sign that said “Airport” on one side and “Cemetary” on the other… two things that are often very closely related as well, I thought when I took the picture…

Here is the result of a recent "wildlife" encounter... a case of mistaken identity, I guess... I was throwing sticks and the German Shepherd took my leg instead...
 Rust in peace...  An old bus I found... my friend Sylvie pointed it out to me.  A nostalgic look through the front windshield...  Details...  Some Yukon Impressions I got on a River Cruise... Just in case...  Fun on the river...  Sylvie...

 Pastel impressions..  Footprint...  Yukon Colors...  Miles Canyon, Whitehorse, YT... from up high.  And this is another cool story... when I was riding up to Inuvik, NWT... we saw this family one the way up and a day later again, when were on the way back down. On the dempster, we did not have the drive to stop, but the family was on bikes and all smiles. Well, I saw them again, over a months later and 832 miles from where I last saw them. They are form Scottland and riding around the world as far as they will get in a year and a half. Kate, the 8 year old girl was about the coolest 8 year old I have ever met and I have invited them to San Diego, should they go that way... I hope I'll see them again on my way down... there are not to many roads.  Atlin Impressions...  Not even a little one?  This is another fun story... Sylvie is traveling with a miniature stuffed animal from a friend and it's named lil' fuzzi... lil' fuzzi is on tour and he is going places and meeting people. This is how it is made...

If you see them together, Sergio, you'll quickly realize that it's both of them... they are very funny together and they do love each other. I actually ended up waiting for him and he arrived today with his Son. We'll go ATV riding tomorrow out to some old mine and then I'll take off for good on Thursday. I just did not want to miss out on seeing him, not knowing when I'll see him again...
The bus is of an unidentifyable make... couldn't find any indication.

Here in Whitehorse it gets dark again, Dee... in other spots, you just really have to listen to your body... there are the oddest times when I felt like I'd fall forward over the handle bars... at 70MPH!
Goig up to Inuvik or Deadhorse... you just decided that it's time to go to sleep...or at least stop riding... the sun just cirlces around in the sky... doesn't even set... not even trying to... After a short while, you just lay down to sleep when you are feeling tired... my system is totally screwed up now. However, as I go further south, it'll all catch up with me again, as I do not like to ride in the dark much. So far, I have kept pushing if there was still daylight...

Departure day... sadly! But I have to cover some ground, still... Whitehorse was awesome and spending time there with some good friends made it even better. It is super warm here (mid 90's and up) and now I am ready to get going and move along in my quest to maybe even see a Grizzly finally (although, with the heat, my chances are even less...).
No less, I still have places to go and people to see... next stop will be around Watson lake or somewhere down the cassiar and then Hyder and Salmon Glacier... the Prince Rupert and from there down to Kamloops/Lilloet and over to the Rock to torture Ian for a couple of days... SPOT on in a little while... same frequency, same program... tune in if you like!

Change of plans... being that I have not seen most of Jasper, the Icefields Parkway and that General Area, I have decided to go down there again, while the weather is nice. That will take out Vancouver/Island/Washington and such... I figure that this is a trip I can make as a separate entity.
There is still that lingering issue in my mind that I want to see Peyto Lake with Sunlight... it has just captured my mind and I do want to know what it looks like. So, I am going there... plus, Logan Pass was still closed when I was there in early June... there is another loop I'll have to close... Right now, I am in Prince Rupert... leaving tomorrow in the general direction of Prince George. SPOT will be on!

Yes, well... there is the lure of the Canadian Rockies and then there is Yellowstone... and then there is the lure to be home when my son gets back from Germany... the biggest draw of all...
It is easier for me to go up the west coast some time that it is to cut in and do the rockies again... I just want to take advantage of the weather.. IN the end, I can NOT see it all but I want to see things that are no in my imagination and need clarity... Ian, I'll probably go down to whitefish from Radium and then over Logan Pass and down to Yelowstone... after I have done some hiking in and around Glacier... from there I'll go into Utah and maybe spend a few days at Zion... I don't know... I'll have to be home by 8/23... Sergio, I do have a very special personal Autograph for you... being that it was written with my guidance, it is naturally different! You'll see...

I spent two weeks in Yellowstone last summer. Got horses and went high in the backcountry. Watched wolves take down an elk calf and then was transfixed to watch a grizzly come in and swat away the wolves to feast. The bear just sat there laughing while the wolves circled and yapped.
Yellowstone is incredible. I understand why you are headed that way. Be safe.
