Talking It's mine alll miiinnnneeeeee!!!!!

I bought the bike!

Although most of you are toolin around on your R12S and or HP2S I'm still really happy with my outdated R11S!!!

I picked it up about two hours after I sold my Suzuki Bandit 1200S..I just could not wait one more day!

It was kinda funny because when I started to ride away from the sellers house it was sprinkling just a tiny bit and then it POURED the whole way home. Talk about trial by fire(rain) for the first time I've really ridden an R11S!

A few notes:
I'm not really used to the throttlemeister yet but I'm sure I will be in time. ABS makes the brakes a little "grabby" to me but again in time I will be able to smooth that out. I still have to do a lot with suspension settings to customize them to my tastes. Haha and I've got a laundry list of maintenance things to get out of the way!

Btw.

Enjoy your new bike. I have the same model year & color but close to 60K on the clock. What's that car in the garage?

The car is my older brothers toy. 1980 Corvette Stingray 4-speed. The engine is modified...I have no clue what it is..350sumthin or another. The car handles like a lumber wagon. I'd much rather drive my 1990 535i.

Btw what is the break in time for these bikes?

You're only 22? You know that you'll have to give the bike back, don't you?

I believe that you need to be well into your 40's to own a BMW. It's written somewhere....

I keed. I keed!

Looks like you got a great bike at a great price. Ride safe!

If your in the MadCity area give me a call and we can get together and I will teach you the maintenance routine and I'll even sync you TBs for you.

First mod should be Ohlins suspension. Best bang for the buck.

By the way, very mature decision for one so young. Congratulation.

Good on ya!

Nicely done!

That's exactly the model and color and year that turned my attention towards BMW when I was shopping for a new bike last year. Of course, while I was doing my research, someone with either more knowledge or chutzpah bought it out from under me. I'm happy for him of course. But with my search narrowed, I was prepared to buy what I have - and I'm more than satisfied too. Although, I did seriously consider a 2004 R1200C Montauk for a week but I just couldn't get comfortable on it... it had a strange ugly beauty though.

I truly believe that the R1100S is a classic... an iconic BMW. Great lines and all the things that experienced bikers either have or wish they did (shaft drive, ABS, heated grips, under-seat exhaust, teutonic engineering, etc.).

Congratulations on a purchase that is both wise and exciting!!

You'll enjoy this Pelican board - and I suggest that you also drop by Boxertrix.com to meet up with another large body of S-bike enthusiasts across the pond.

Cheers,
Ian

Your 11S is not outdated. It's a fantastic sport/touring bike. I still have days that I miss its versatility. With an HP2S and an RT I don't have the flexibility that I once had. Great find. Ohlns and a GS torque arm are all you need to have a super ride. Welcome to the board. It's very encouraging to see a young man who appreciates excellence in motorcycles.

Great move and great bike. I just bought my "outdated" 03' R11S last fall and couldn't be happier. It's a great bike that does everything well. I also like that's it's a little unique and not just another UJM.

any insight for the newbies on the gs arm ?

ohlins look like a nice set-up any chance to find a cheap pair :P ?

will the GS arm improve the settings with stock shocks ?
