02 R100S bcp

Hey,

I've been lurking here awhile and had a quick question. I have a chance to pick up an 02 R11S BCP at a local dealer for $5900. The bike is silver and black with 18500 miles. Dealer states all maintenance is up to date. Took it for a test ride last week and liked the riding position alot better than my current 04 Aprilia RSVR.

So guys, is this a fair price (no abs, no heated grips) but does have bags. Also what should I look out for? Thanks in advance.

John

Fair, IMHO

John, you bloody Lurker you --

My $.02 is that the price is fair. Haggle if you can. But do it. You won't regret it.

I picked up my '02 BCP almost two years ago, but due to surgeries I've only ridden it for about four months now. Very happy, after having had two K100RS machines - '85 and '91. I paid $6K at the time for the R1100S BCP, private sale, but the original owner had all service records and receipts for add-ons. Bike had a pantload of options, some useful -- hard bags, Sargent seat, Sargent tank bag, billet torque arm, belly pan, throttlemeister bar ends, full TBR exhaust (along with stock cat pipe and cans), other stuff I can't remember -- some stuff just farkles. Tires were okay, but I replaced them after a couple of thousand miles. Machine was very, very clean, and I felt comfortable with the owner. Be happy to talk with you about my experience and impressions if you want to PM me. By the way, I removed the belly pan and installed a center stand, which was more important to me than the slick looking pan. Center stand adds weight, but I'm not that aggressive a rider anymore, so it's a good addition for me. So if you're apt to keep your bike with a side stand only, I have a belly pan (Titan Silver at the moment) which may interest you.

In case you haven't guessed, this forum offers a wealth of information, lots of opinions and a high entertainment value for what you pay . . .

Where are you located, just for our collective edification? I'm in eastern MA.

Keep us posted when you acquire your new scoot. Scores of us are counting on you to join our ranks. But, hey. No pressure.

It sounds like a good deal if the dealer will warranty what he sells you.

Or not.
