Bellypan . . . Compromise ?
The '02 R1100S BCP I bought from her original owner had (past tense) a Euro belly pan, German, Raymond Walter Design, Model 722.
I was quite happy with it (looks, that is). This summer, I decided to mount a center stand on the machine, since the BCP model didn't come with one originally. To me, the center stand makes ownership a little easier. Until . . . . . . Until it's time for an oil change. Then, of course, first thing is that, because of its design, the belly pan has to be removed. That's okay, except . . . because of the way the belly pan is mounted (secured on one side to the center stand mount inside the leg), the center stand has to be removed as well. PITA. So my questions for owners who have belly pans of any kind mounted on their R11S rides: ** Is it a choice of having one or the other (belly pan or center stand) if the hassle is to be avoided? Anyone else have a similar challenge or choice? ** Does anyone have a belly pan with different mounting points that can be removed without messing with the center stand? ** Do all belly pan configured bikes all require the pan removal, as this one does, or are there other, more practical designs? Maybe I'm just lazy or stupid, but I don't have a shop or a lift or anything fancy, and the center stand removal and mounting is time-consuming and challenge for me , especially with the springs . . . Suggestions welcome.
