City Case Lids - bad fit
I finally pulled out the set of hardbags I bought a year ago and mounted them up on my 'S' . . . My set has the city case lids, narrower than stock but fine for most of what I do. But there's a problem.
Not sure if it's just my set or if it's the way many of them fit, but my lids are slightly separated from the main inside portion of the hard bag. The lids are separated, particularly at the rear, where there's about 3/8 of an inch of the lid's inside cover flange showing, as if I had stuffed the bag and the rear plastic material had been pushed out. Same bad fit on both sides. Warped plastic material? Improper installation of the lids themselves? Anyone else have this issue? If so, I sure would like recommendations on a fix to get the proper fitment.

I have both sets of lids on mine and they fit fine. Can you post some pics? Without seeing it's hard to say. Maybe you can move the hinges a bit?

Mine have fit the same way since new. They are not as rigid as the regular size lids. I have thought of adding an internal brace but still have not done it after 8 years.
Bill might be on to something with the hinges. I might give it a look.

Pics coming
BP -- I'll take a couple tomorrow and see if that helps. I'm sure I can fix this somehow, but I'd like to fit them up properly, as I'd like to have the covers painted this winter to match the bike.

city lids
I had to take a heat gun and warm mine up and bend them . They have no internal webbing for strength. Try to adjust them as much as possible with the hinges before heating.

i set my bags up to interchange between city and regular sized covers. regs fit snug, citys have a slight gap at rear.
i think it's just another case of "they all do that", but if i really cared, i'd probably try the "heat and beat" method.

The straps on mine sometimes get pinched and cause that.

Mine fit funky too. But after a few months of opening and closing and finagling around, they started to mold into shape more.
