Plan to Keep/Trade Your R11S?

The S1000RR is all the rage with more than twice the horsepower of my 04 R11S, ABS, DTC, etc., but I plan to keep mine, warts and all, until is becomes an antique. Haven't ruled out getting another motorcycle, but this one's a keeper!

You?

I'm trying to trade my S, but not for a RR but for a GS!

I'm thinking about trading my 04 with 60k in for a DUC Multistrada when they become available this spring. My Roseville CA dealer is a BMW and DUC dealer and says he will give me top dollar for my 1100s. (HA!) I'd hate to get rid of it but that new DUC is going to be freakin awesome and versatile. Touring on steriods!

After riding a variety of bikes in the last 44 years, I've finally come to my senses. (ha!) My 04 11S is just too good to be replaced by anything else....though I will admit I do have a secret craving to add one more bike to the garage, there's plenty of room.

Perhaps I'll find something to tempt me (NOT) at Seattle motorcycle show next weekend?

Cheers, Bill J

I sold mine. But, the photos and memories will always be there. Very few relationships last forever.

If I do anything it will be selling the R11S and moving on from the bike scene. Unless I find a way to move from eastern Iowa (like there's a chance of that happening) all my riding has become reruns; same old flat and straight corn lined roads with the occasional soybean field tossed in for variety. Maybe 2010 will be a better riding season; 2009 sucked major.

Put a little spring in your step. Come on down for the ECDR Spring Thaw in April at the Bikehaus.

It will be better than a heart cath.

Thanks for the offer. Finding it difficult to take vacation, for a number of reasons. Today is the last day for this year's vacation and honestly I'll have almost all of the 8 work days off work load sitting in my InBox and on my desk when I get back tomorrow. The instant panic crap is handled okay by others at work, the rest of it just seems to accumulate because no one really wants my job.

Not to cry in my beer (since I don't like beer) but I'm pretty well trapped in my job and in my location by age, education and social perceptions. About the only way out for me would be to create a business, and I'm not making any headway in that department, either.

I think a fair number of us on this forum are "dust bunnies" trapped under the fridge of Life, not going anywhere or able to make any real contributions to the world at large. Need I say I'm almost hoping for a total economic meltdown?

I just got a set of PVM rims for my 1100S, so I'm not letting mine go anytime soon. I doubt I would sell my S anyway; when the time comes I'll probably add a younger stablemate.

It's looking that way, Richard. I'll be spending a lot more time up at the Bikehaus working to install a basement 1/2 bath and getting the trimwork finished. Also, will be replacing the carpenter bee and woodpecker damage along with some wood rot. The 4 years I spend in public service has taken its toll on the odd jobs around the homestead and my riding. That's all done as far as I can tell.

short answer is I'll be there almost full time beginning mid-March.

I feel your pain. I have been with the same company for 39 years. Only direction to go is down. Had planned on early retirement, but that got washed away in the last couple years. On the plus side, I still have a job and I can take time off when I want. I also look a a co-worker who retired last year but still works because he can't think of anything else to do, the poor sap.

I am still thinking half full.

For right now I'm keeping the S because I don't trust the economy. Next spring things might be a lot different (better OR worse).

RB - retirement is not in my vocab. Expect to work at least 1/2 days until I die, like my grandfather.

For a time I was lusting after a Duc 848 or big brother, but same problem: same stinking straight & flat midwest scenery.

I know it's the Season. For those with manic-depression (bipolar disorder) this is a very trying time to survive. The false happiness, the feigned brotherly love, the stress of selecting gifts, the short days and long cold nights... It's a lot tougher than most understand.

What only a few of you probably know is that you are my only real friends in the world beyond my family. I don't have friends at work, I have acquaintances. Reading and posting IS my socializing.

So I hope my poor attitude does not infect the rest. Have a Merry Christmas, and keep lusting for new toys.
