My latest, as of a few days ago, and with a few parts removed it fits in the thing upon which it's leaning. Crazy happy with it. Greatly expanded my local riding universe.

RoLoo, if you are following this thread, greetings! It's been awhile.

A Pinarello I fixed up, found it on Craigslist I think, it came with the original floor ticket from Denver Spokes bike shop.

It belonged to a friend who bought it for cyclocross racing but was diagnosed with a heart condition so no more riding for him. I'd never heard of the company either, they are Canadian and this frame was one of several they built 4-5 years ago for a cross racing team in Texas. Which meant custom graphics but I believe it's otherwise a standard model.

Which isn't saying much, because I am pretty much clueless about what makes a bike a cyclocross model vs. road vs. gravel, other than possibly disc brakes, though it seems that that is more common across the board as well. In any case, I rode this one for the first time a few weeks ago and loved it; my friend made me an offer I couldn't refuse (low bar there though) and the next thing I knew a big box appeared on my doorstep.

American Classic 650b wheelset, SRAM Force 1x11 drivetrain, SRAM hydraulic discs. I am not missing the front derailleur.

Lovely steel bike, as only the Italians could build.

I believe it is 116 BCD 52T/42, I know, it looks larger in the picture.

It is a good looker but I was surprised of the lack of interest in clean vintage bikes.

Sweet ride. DIY? It's got an integrated battery in the downtube? Do tell, i'm in the market for one. (Your old 12s is still going strong - rode it to work this morning)

Hi Kevin! You do own one of the bikes I wish I had kept and there are only a few. Hang on to it!

I don't know how much experience you have with e-bikes but they are a total pisser! I almost feel like I am discovering motorized 2 wheelers for the first time again. If you go fast on your MTB, you go really fast on your e-MTB (if you can handle the speed). The MTB ebikes I am riding (Shimano E8000) pretty much just take what you put in and double it, of course they aren't stock, and the speed limits have been adjusted to maximize fun. I find I run the exact same heart rates (high) I just go a lot faster which is *****in!

The e-road is a bit of a different animal but i love it too. It is based on the Bafang M800 motor and battery platform which is super compact and light. It has lower torque output, lower wH battery, and signs off at 16mph. This speed limit (20mph on the Shimano) was a problem for the MTB because you would get up to full rip only to "hit the wall" when the motor cut off, and you were pedaling against the system drag. The Bafang system has almost zero drag and noise, so when you exceed 16mph its all you, when you drop below 16 you get an assist, which is perfect for road riding. the total bike only weighs 30lbs which in the ebike world is feather weight. I have procurred the diagnostic software and cabling to allow me to experiment with other top max speeds, but a higher max will likely result in a shorter battery life. Right now with good management (there are 5 levels of input, adjustable on the fly) I can get in a 50 mile ride pretty easy. I am thinking though that 17mph might be where I want the bike to kick in as speed drops on hills. More experimentation to come.

Now, how do you get one? That's not as easy, as you might expect from me. I ordered the frame direct from an OEM supplier in China (Light Carbon) and also ordered the M800 kit direct from a Bafang supplier, but it is likely that they probably shouldn't have sold it to me, as I am not an OEM manufacturer. Go on Alibaba and see what you can procure. OF course all this international commerce takes a strong stomach as I wired off $2K and hoped I would see the products in a few months. So far it has worked in my favor every time, but that is a risk.

The bike you see cost me about $3500 all in, but there are similar to identical models for sale in market today that range from $5500 - $10K.

Do yourself a favor and dip a toe, you wont look back, and when your purist friends call you a cheater, tell them you will save them a seat at the Starbucks because you are going to get there way before they do!

Very nice e-road bike.
For $3500 budget, that's a pretty good deal.
Currently, my road cycling doesn't require e-assist yet, but eventually I think it will be in the future.

My road cycling doesn't "require" e-assist either, I just prefer it! I have spent decades ascending at blood vessel blowing pace, I don't fell the need to do that anymore. I could if I wanted to, I just don't want to. Like I said, the beauty of that bike shown is after 16 mph, it's all me, and I spend most of my time pedaling under my own juice.
