the notion that gold has more value than paper money when the walls come crashing down is kind of funny to me.
You know intellectually I am completely agreed with you, but in a time of the collapse of fiat currencies it always seems to find a place of worth. I see it rather like civilizations 'Linus blanket' if that makes sense. It real use and worth is only that which we attach to it, but when all else fails it becomes the thing that we trust.
Now if you think I'm being silly, check out our very own US Mint. Look at the gold and silver coins (eagles & buffalos) you can always buy from them. Nada, they are no longer selling bullion. Why? All sold out? That is a lot of demand, and hasn't happened since they started reissuing gold coin in the 70's.

I seriously think everyone should have 5k in small (1/4 & 1/10 oz) coins in a safe spot, we are in very dangerous times, and the Fed/Treasury are not as in control of what is happening as the main stream media would have you believe.

Great posting. The preliminaries have just begun in Greece. Should visit an old age home and listen to the old ones how they got through the 30's and 40's.

My mother told me years ago that my grandpa (born 1875, yeees !) kept his goldmarks and krugerrand coins sewn into fabric as some kind of "camouflaged buttons" on his winter coat during that time. .

Some other family treasures were buried in the garden. "Myriads" of uncles, aunts and cousins, also my mother, tried to find it in the 50's and 60's , but failed. Maybe the treasures just were a pile of apples, carrots, chocolate bars and cigarettes - these were real treasures in that period.

So I suggest that anyone should have a R1200S in the cellar (remember mad max the movie !), a vegetable garden in the back of your house, one room fortified as an air raid shelter and a proper rifle if you see a greek with his hands stretched out to collect money (just kidding - although I'm only lacking the last thing on that list. )

By the way: How did we get to that stuff from N8's 12S ?

Yeah. Different bikes, different riders even. It's more of a R1200S collage than an ad for a particular bike. The SunTrust picture is Parriott on San Jose's bike.

But coming with new street bodywork and Ohlins, Pit Bull stand, etc. it may end up as an OK deal. But no bidders yet. Maybe it'll show up again with a lower reserve.
