Exclamation Monongahela Madness Tour May 20-22

A couple of NJ R1200S' are heading deep into the Allegheny Mountains of WV.
I've passed through the area many times, recently most often on my annual Indy MotoGP run. If my Yankee wing man thinks the Catskills are rural, wait until he gets to Wild, Wonderful West Virginia. (I always thought they should change the welcome signs to "Full Liquor, Full Nude, West Virginia").
Likely spend a night or two in Elkins, venturing out on loops from there.

my wingman Rodney was likewise warned when I took him there the first time. He didn't believe me until we were in the middle of nowhere...bigtime. From the Elkins area try Rt 250 towards Monterey, then ride the valley Rt 220 to 39. Rt 250 is a hoot East of Huttonsville!! 15 and 20 are also fun.

Couldn't agree more with Flatbutt. 250 is a hoot. If I remember correctly the ride from Monterrey east towards Staunton brings you over 4 separate mountain ranges. Awesome area!

I have been to WV more times than you know. remember i raced mountain bikes for over a decade, and many of the best ones were in WV, like Canaan! I do remember seeing a real hillbilly for the first time, no shoes, torn overalls, long beard, broken teeth. he was a walking cliche only real, a bit unnerving actually, because he looked like the dude from Deliverance.

Check out smoke hole road, just NE of Seneca Rocks, nice little road. The diner in Monterey is a good place for breakfast, and watch 250 for cops, they patrol the road pretty good, even unmarked.

After following your tailight on the lanes you call roads in central PA, I'm sure it's good - although I prefer a little clearer line of sight. I've been up and down 250 before as well as many others through there.
I first found that area years ago working for Honda and took 33 over to VA. I've got a great route coming down from PA into Berkeley Springs, then 50 and 219 down into Elkins. I'd like to spend Sat. looping around from there. 39's another great road and you can catch 220 back up to Monterey and NW on 250.
Looking forward to it - hope the weather forecast this far out improves. It's showers up to the 19th so timing may be good for the 20-22. Keeping my fingers crossed.

What can I say, I like my roads like my women, small tight and curvy

How can you not like a road like this with a name like smoke hole!

You should check out Rella's roadside cafe too,it is infamous in the area, never been there but plan on trying to get there sometime.

Still 9 pounds to go so won't be visiting any roadside cafe's, bars, etc., much to my chagrin.
We'll have to get you on a run around the reservoirs in Sullivan and Tioga counties.
After 95 mph, they start getting tight and curvy.......

I would do WV, but have commitments, I save my 95 mph for the track, I get much more enjoyment out of dragging pegs at 20 mph, on the street.

Have fun and be safe!

Be careful on 219. They've added truck pullovers so you can get around the really slow ones, but they always drag gravel back on the road. And just when you try to set your line for the curve....

If you go anywhere near Clarksburg, WV and are hungry stop at Big Frank's
you will not be sorry. I met Big Frank a few weeks ago, stopped by and was very glad I did. the food was tremendous. Restaurant Road Trip: Big Frank's BBQ & Family Restaurant - WBOY-TV - WBOY.com The only thing you might not like is that the road he is on is straight.

NYS Sullivan-Delaware-Schoharie Tour 27.3 May 22-23

Change of plans - Monongohela will have to wait since the forecast has gone to $h*t.
shreddorama and I will be tearing up PA & NYS Sunday and Monday, chasing the sun and spending the night at the Super 8 in Cobleskill.
Sunday will be a blast through the Poconos, break in Hancock/Deposit and then a reservoir assault culminating with a RT. 10 blitz.
Then Monday, hit Rt. 30 hard (with the rubber side up), another reservoir left smoking, break in Hancock then back.
Anybody in the area is welcome to join.
