he was probably just thinking that because you mentioned 355mm.
Personally i haven't found an aftermarket torque arm that i thought had good looks. there is however one for the r12s that i really like. for me the 365mm one is perfect. thats best mod i did for my bike until i get a set of ohlins.

I see you have edited your post from the specifications you originally posted which encompassed a range less than the extended 385mm length... And since he already has 385mm based on a casual observers assumption, what's the point? I'd think you would have gone the other way and edited to show the precise range of adjustment, not remove...
I'm curious to see a picture of the "stock shock." Anyway, ![]() ![]() (Better scans)

Just measured it and it's definitely 385mm. As for the rear shock/spring. My understanding is it's suppose to have a yellow spring like the front. It currently has a blue/grey spring and is a Showa B0142 (2-330-998). Hope this helps.

Welcome Drew.
Having lived in Lafayette, IN I can direct you to southern Indiana for lots of two-wheel swervery. Route 43 South from Spencer, IN is fun but treacherous in places. Route 58 East of Bedford is fun as well as Route 135 south of Nashville, IN. It's all good!!! Having met "ckcarr" I believe he can offer good advice on suspension/seat mods as he is inseam "challenged" too. My '99 had one of the Showa Blue Spring rear Shock too. I replaced it as well as the front unit with Wilbers Suspension (similar price/performance to some Ohlins units but gemacht in Deutschland). As is the case with their Cars, BMW Motorcycles can suck money from your wallet in no time thanks to aftermarket providers Wunderlich, Touratech, Spiegler, HPE, REMUS, AC Schnitzer, Corbin, Akrapovic, K&N, could go on but... Oh, and I have a '97 318ti...there are many others piloting 4-wheel BMWs here too. Happy Motoring!

R111S, thanks for tips. It's been awhile since I've been down to Brown County. Mt. Biking. I guess I should mention my current 4wheels. I have a 01' 325xi touring 5sp. And a 87' 325ic 5sp. So addition of the R11S makes a nice trio. Haha.

![]() I'm pretty sure there are more than 200 out there. These two are 10 VIN numbers apart.
