Dean - where's your K1600 writeup?

I heard BMW had delivered over 100 of their initial order of 200 presold R1600's.
Dean, what do you have to say about it?

Jerry, glad you asked. BMW NA for the US had appx 1200 pre orders for the K16's over double what they anticipated which resulted in stopping the pre order program one month early.

My K1600 GT was #3 in the US preorder program and it arrived at San Jose BMW yesterday (wed Jn 2). Unfortunately I won't be able to pick it up until next Tuesday....AARRRGGGG.... my plan is to ride it around the Santa Cruse Mountains, lunch at Alices ect, oil change that afternoon and off to Wills up in Northern Calif the next day. lots of reporting in and pictures.

Shots of its arrival yesterday shot by San Jose.

Chris himself did the uncrating.

Oh Baby, still a ways to go. My first ride on it or any K16 will be first thing Tuesday. I have business here this weekend and can not get away until Mon morning.

Full reports to follow.

Dean, what's the wheelbase on that beast? Never seen one shipped with the front wheel not installed. Like the color.

I took the test K1600GTL bike out Saturday here in Reno, NV. It sure has me thinking, the engine and transmission on this bike are amazing, tons of power, smooth, the handling is really good for a 750lb bike. Congrats Dean.

Thanks guys, Bubba, I don't know.

If you notice, the crate size is determined by the width of common carriers. Those of you that have had to deal with and design packaging realize what complexity of Motorcycle packaging and shipping is. In one of my former lives as an engineer, packaging presented some major and serious challanges.

Come on Tuesday.............

Yeah, like most things you will never get it back into the box.

Have fun with your new ride, man that bike looks big and comfy.

Business, shmizniz. What kind of business could possibly be more important than picking up a new, exciting BMW motorcycle. I dunno about you Dean O!

Best of luck with it.

Yes, I post on there occasionally. check it out every day.

Chris recieved 5 K16's in the same truck and they are burried with guys wanting to pick up their new bike. the techs are going slow learning all the ins and outs of these beasts, I told chris to save mine for last, i am going to do a few extra things like a fused link directly to the battery for things like battery tenders and Gerbings. Since they now handle the TPX Adaptix radar detector, they are going to install one of those also.

Come on Tuesday.
