Interesting read. I like that idea of inverting the swing arm to reduce the moment but is that enough to really give a competitive edge?

Didn't mention Aprila, thought that was the competition for now. Their narrow V4 looks like a real winner and great idea to me.. think I need to go demo a RSV4.

Is the perpendicular setup of the shock to the swing arm better than being at an angle for more precise tuning?

...I think it doesn't matter...
...because...

...the weather is quite terrible over here at the moment (after the weather being extremely dry, warm and sunny the last 8, or 9 weeks...), and the weather forecast for Assen isn't looking good...

...at this very moment heavy rain over Assen...
...and for Saturday, a 90% change of getting rain...

I just hope is brings the racing closer. 10 sec victories by Stoner are boring to watch, no matter the skill level being displayed.

Anyway...other than re-inventing the wheel (and NOT allowing Jeremy to act as..er...Jeremy) facts for poor old Corse are:

1. The Evil Empire got Yamaha TC/ECU gurus one year ago.
2. The Evil Empire has that "syncro" marvel gearbox.
3. The Evil Empire has the most potent motor by some margin.

Not to mention the radical change in HRC policy: no longer things are internally sourced (at any cost).

what does this add to the "spirit of the rules" arguement;

"The GP12, on the other hand, is a different kettle of fish altogether. The difference between the 2012 machine tested by Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi last week at Mugello and the 2011 machine which Rossi is riding this weekend is just two parts: a modified crankshaft to give the engine a shorter stroke, bringing it inside the 800cc maximum capacity, and longer conrods to fit the relocated crankpins. Everything else, Guareschi revealed, was identical, the bike being an adaptation of the GP12 which Rossi had tested and been so pleased with at the Jerez test."

Well...after Assen (**) appears that the "new" GP11 it's just the old GP11.

(**) Boring race, surprising winner.
