I dunno, Brad. It might come down to being stupider than the last guy, or the next guy. The order may be just too tall.

By the way, Brad, got my Sidi boots back from Jim at Sole Performance. Nice job. They look almost better than new. Even cleaned some paint overspray I had on the boots.

...well we just got back from there, crossin' dubble yellows, exceeding the speed limit, hair on fire...not a cop to be found...

O.K., it wasn't Hwy 2, it was Angeles Forest Hwy and we did the speed limit, but we didn't slow down for the turns, CHPs or not...

Thanks for posting that up Sergio. I was thinking of taking the S1K up The Crest tomorrow, I think instead I'll leave it in the garage. No need to "ask for trouble" from the man.

I've got a full day of wrenching slated for tomorrow, prepping for an upcoming trackday at Buttonwillow. I think I'll head up there for lunch on Monday after things cool down.

Wish I could join you, but I've got a back thing going on right now.

I'm thinking of going up on Monday too, around 11am. What bike will you be on Sergio? Would be nice to meet you and put a face to the name.

I'll be on a 2012 S1000RR in Motosport colors...wearing black/white Vanson leathers.

...anyone ride Bouquet Canyon on Sunday? I was up there riding the trails and cut down Bouquet to catch another trail.
Saw a horrific looking bike crash about half way down.
Blue Suzuki busted in half and another bike...looked fatal bu I can't find any news on it.
Made my heart sink...

Hey RD,

I wasn't there but was able to find this online from The Santa Clarita Valley Signal (signalscv.com) Three injured in head-on crash of two motorcycles

"A woman and two men were injured and taken to the hospital Sunday morning after two motorcycles collided head-on, emergency response officials said.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m., two motorcycles — one travelling northbound on Bouquet Canyon Road and the other southbound on the same roadway — collided at mile marker 9.6, said Sgt. Kevin Pack of the California Highway Patrol.

“Two motorcycles came head to head at that location,” he told The Signal Sunday. “Visibly their injuries appeared to be minor but there could be internal injuries,” he said. “We don’t know.”

All three injured people were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched to the crash at 11:35 a.m., said Inspector Bernard Peters.

“We transported three people to the hospital,” he said.

The crash happened along the winding stretch of Bouquet, just north of the Big Oaks Lodge and about a quarter mile southwest of the Bouquet Reservoir.

Despite the rugged terrain, paramedics reported no difficulty in treating the injured people, Peters said.

The collision is under investigation, said Pack."

Sergio, another time perhaps. I did make it up there Monday for lunch. The lunch special was a bbq baby back rib sandwich, nom nom nom! Great weather, the road wasn't too crowded, very few rocks and not a single CHP to be seen on the way up or back down. Just the way I like it!

I spoke to one of the guys from Newcomb's Ranch and he said there were three CHP up on the hill on Sunday, but that they were all up above Newcomb's and not really writing tickets at all. The way that news report sounded it looked like they would be out in full harassment mode. Looks like that wasn't the case, but still, it kept me off the road that day. Perhaps that's what they were hoping for, spread the word, keep a few riders off the mountain. In my case it worked...

Yeah that's what pretty much kept me off the road this weekend...news made it sound like they're going full force crackdown mode...general consensus is that it comes down to which area, think they were mostly at Santiago and Ortega. Super bum I didn't get to ride, about as perfect weather as it gets..oh well need to replace my tires anyway.. Sergio, we need to go for that ride soon

That's it. I knew it was two bikes head on! They were both on the inside of the turn.
3 CHP cruisers, Forestry truck, paramedics, et al.
So glad to hear no one's dead.
I saw about 6 sportbikes heading north on Bouquet at the start of my ride, and just thought 'trouble'. CHPs on every road I traveled this weekend.

I went up last Sunday for my second time ride this year. Love the presence of CHPs and it made me go slower and safer Funny thing is even I go around the posted speed limit, my second time ride this year made me feel so excited. The feel of speed is all subjective indeed. Safe ride!

Last year they were citing (fix it ticket) riders for having aftermarket exhausts. Not even LOUD exhausts, just cans that didn't have the proper OEM/DOT stamp! The officers were trained to actually spot aftermarket cans, like those wrapped in CF weave, etc.

Not sure if the CHP title still applies, but I'm heading up to the Crest this weekend if anyone wants to join.
