Rear Tyre is a 190/55/17, I'm considering going for a 50 profile, the back is set up as per the book so no jacking up there.
I just imagine the back should reach the edge first to avoid losing the front??

You are right, chicken strip should be larger on the front tire. On both my R1200S and HP2S, I ride right to the edge of the rear tire but there is about 1/4" of chicken strip left on the front one. I was using 190/50/17 on the R1200S and 190/55 on the HP2S.

Nice, I could only hope to get over that far. I'm doing my second track day with this bike next week at Infineon. Rather excited. I just hope I can get faster.. Last track day I didn't get the bike nearly as far over as it could have gone, I even managed to have 1/2" chicken strips when done So we'll see...

Word of wisdom, NEVER try to go fast, just put 110% effort in being SMOOTH, hitting your markers consistently, keeping your eyes up. And guess what you will soon be FAST AND SMOOTH, without trying.

Forcing yourself to ride fast only brings on pucker moments, and pucker moments slow most sane humans down.

Yeah, I'm taking my 1100 out to Laguna Seca week after next..... we'll see if I can manage to scrape the heads without doing the body parts too!

Wanted to see if the GS was truly the "Do All" bike as advertised. Had a blast on it!

Fun at Kyalami

Hey you guys,
I had an awesome track day at Kyalami today!

I had one issue though, can someone help me please?
After lunch I took my key out of my pocket and tried to start the bike.
All I heard was one click and everything died, clocks everything, we fidgeted around under the seat and saw the clock come on once or twice for a split second just to die again, we could not repeat any of the results.
So we jump started the bike with my friends BMW 3 series, let the car run for about twenty minutes and started the bike all fine, but as soon as we take my bike off the cars power she dies after 20 - 30 seconds, so much that when I turn the key, the guages dont even light up???
The battery is less than a month old. What could this be?

My guess is a bad battery................just because something is new, don't assume it will work properly..........this goes for all electrical components!

Test that battery first as what you are describing is a typical symptom of a bad battery.

Cheers

Sweet!

One of my favorite photos over on the front page of ADV is a shot taken at some place like Tail of the Dragon, with a sportbike rider all leaned over dragging a knee through the corner with a GS right on his ass, leaned over just as much, and the rider looking up the inside. Gotta love it!
