i guess it all depends on how you define "riding" if you go over to ADV Rider there are some dudes there that are RIDING!!!

for many riders the motorcycle is the escape from the corporate grind, or the grueling workweek. its not quantity its quality.

I would love nothing more than to ride everyday and hang out at night watching TV and drinking beer, but there is too much responsibility in the way. so for now getting out on the bike is the spice of life. I do aspire to ride more though, but I won't wish my kids childhood away to get there sooner. It's all about choice.

Of course! They haven't worked for 10 years!!
Riding is their job.

But seriously, you do what you can. But comments like Nails get really old, when I see many Harley riders that do put miles on, just like BMW or Ducati riders.

Again.
Everyone does what they can. And there are other outlets for fun too. So it all cuts in to realistic riding time.

Read the chrome, it's a Road King.

This is an 85 FXRS (SP) that i bought out of uncle's estate and totally disassembled (not engine and tranny), cleaned painted and reassembed.

That's a nice one. I'd change the wheels to the factory laced wheels, but that's just me.

There are two kinds of HP2S owners, the ones who bought the bike, be it new or used and plan to keep it.

And the second, which pops up a thread here every once in a while with a 'for sale' tag on it. These owners go through bikes because that's what they do, flip bikes every X number of months.

Ok, three, the other group bought the bike but sold it cause for them it was a torture rack.

I started in group 1, bought it thinking I'd keep it for ever, rode it twice and am now firmly in group 3, my neck simply can't do that anymore, and besides that I find the Megamoto to be so much more fun on the roads I like.

If I could find a nice set at a reasonable price, I would. It took two years of searching to find the slip-on's that hadn't been drilled. I'm not a proponent of loud Harleys. I'm currently looking for the correct headers and skins. My biggest mistake was letting the guy that did the paint keep the bar and shield emblems off the gas tank. It is the best riding frame that H-D has made per several dealers who have seen it.

I bought my #39 because I could. I picked up an order that was abandoned at Atlanta BMW after sitting on the demo at Daytona Bike Week.
ienjoyed the 5k miles that I put on the bike; but, I also realized that it would be better off out of my stable and into one that would press it closer to its limits. Te purchaser was happy with the bike and the hospitality of Das Bikehaus. He has written me several times since to tell me how much he enjots the HP2S. I have no regrets. I lost a bundle of $$'s when the tech stocks took a highside a few year back and had none of the fun that I got out of #39.

It is pretty easy to go through money in this world, not sure why people get worked up about motorcycle depreciation. Go buy a 35K car and see what it is worth when you get it home.

I guess it all depends on what you are used to, I certainly don't find the HP2S to be a torture rack, but it is a more agressive position than the MM. I used to have a R1200C cruiser, which was about as relaxed as you are going to get, and it was very comfortable for about an hour and after that my ass would go numb from the upright position.

I remember the first time I road a real road bicycle after being a mountain biker for years. I thought it was blazing fast but it killed my crotch and neck, eventually I get used to it though and I now find a road bike riding position to be quite comfortable. There is a limit though, and a TT bike is not comfortable for me, neither is an S1000RR!

i love it how a few of you jump right in to defend the ergos of the HP2S, or to insinuate that i am wrong in my beliefs......i really don't care what Bike Magazine had to say about them, nor any other reviewer. the HP2S was far from being my first superbike styled motorcycle (yes, i've been out on the track), and all that really matters is how I feel on the bike, not someone else. i won't argue the fact that it is one of the more comfortable leaned over bikes, for certain it is. i'm a group two and three type, in the end i chose to have my monies employed elsewhere (Porsche, Ducati, Aprilia). fwiw, i ride the Crest almost every weekend, sometimes both days, so it is about riding with me as opposed to keeping a bike for other reasons.

i have a lot more fun riding my other two motorcycles than i did the HP2, and that's what it's really all about, well at least for me it is.

HP2 Sport ergo opinion

It is kind of interesting thinking about the ergos on the HP2 Sport compared to other bikes. I own a HP2 Sport, Megamoto and also a R1200RT. All have totally different ergos and I can do about 250 miles on each before a different part of me starts getting sore. Sport, the outer parts of my hands , shoulders and quads, Megamoto, butt, arms and feet, RT, arms, elbows and butt. I just take it as the cost of having fun and each ride has its own investment. Or that I need to change my workout to accommodate my riding, but no, I would rather be riding.
I agree with Shred, I used to ride only mountain bikes an now almost exclusively road bikes with a 9cm saddle to bar drop and riding 200 miles weekly. This really helps me on the scoot.
Having a special relationship with my dealer (friend for over 25 years) I go there frequently on the weekend to see if they have any bikes that they need to get miles on so that they can be sold as demos. I think that it is 2500. In the last few weeks I have ridden a K1300S and a K1600GTL and a K1600GT, F800R all of which I rode for at least 250 miles. Same thing with these bikes Similar areas that get sore, though different on each of them and great insights to each bikes attributes and limitations. By the way, least impressive bike was the K1300S, most impressive was the K1600GT with superior ergos to the GTL. Suspension and handling on the S with ESA were awful out of the box. I might be finding a GT in the garage replacing the RT. It was that good.

thanks for posting the comparison, i've seen it before, and as a past owner of a RSV4F, i agree with their findings. having said that, it doesn't change how i feel about the ergos of a superbike.

i prefer uprights, not sure there's much more for me to say.

back to "clean HP2S bikes for sale"

see ya,
