No R1100S Logos?
Hi everyone! I am trying to sell my 2001 R1100S (I'm the second owner of about 6 years now) - and somebody interested just inquired about the lack of the "R1100S" decals on the back of the bike - wondering when it had been "crashed and repainted." As far as I know, the bike has never been in an accident - just a few bumps and scrapes to the typical parts when passing bushes or dropping a case.
Was there ever an option to come without the "R1100S" badge on the back or was it removable? Please advise! Thanks! Check out the bike in my signature - I found this one in the forum sans model decal: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/r1100s-bikes-parts-sale/420768-1999-bmw-r1100s.html - Tom

Yes, there is/was a sticker back there... I pulled mine off the day I bought my bike, because, well, it looked like a sticker. If I could, I would pull the Rondel as well... personal preference....

They all came from the factory stickered there. Simple decal over paint. My first one was used without the decal. Without luggage racks, it's typically the first place to be rashed after valve covers hit in a crash. So it's a sign of it being possibly replaced/repainted.
Funny for rootboy -- my first R11S I bought cheap as it was repainted with a laquer job gone bad. The panels that had the rondels removed and the recesses filled and the stickers off the tail. To me, after seeing all the stock bikes it always seemed like it needed something there with it gone. I ended up finding panels on beemerboneyard to repaint to fix it. Grass is always greener, I guess! I actually still have the panels with the rondels filled in if you want to sand and paint them. Last edited by Sideshow_S; 03-10-2013 at 09:02 AM.. |
