Let the Waiting Begin!
Let me introduce myself...I've been on the R1100s/R1200s board for a few years, quietly lurking and trading parts and information.
Yesterday, I bellied up to the counter at Hermy's Tire & Cycle (Port Clinton, PA) and ordered me up a Motorsports/DTC-ABS/Shift Assist bike. The question they cannot answer (as they took my deposit)...was when I will get my scooter. They left me with 12-16 weeks....as a working time-frame! FWIW, they had 3 pre-orders....all Motorsport Colors. 2 Seconds after I walked in, another guy rolled in behind me and announced his desire to order the same bike I was getting. Kevin, I hope that you get your bike with enough riding season left to enjoy it this year.

Just recieved the answer to my inquiry.
Quote:
I did not realize that, the US has 622 pre sell orders more that the countries he stated above. He also stated that non pre order SKRR's will start to arrive in the US end of March.

That's very good news. Dean O. There does not need to be a big gap between pre-sales and the next wave of orders. The bikes must be on the street for the majority of the riding season up north.

Lets say heavy availability April 1st should do the trick.
Stands to reason if BMW wants to get the sales volumn that they are hoping for.

The Waiting
I'll take the wait. I had to see one in person and sit on it before I could be sure it was what I wanted. Way, way better looking in person, especially from the front.
Thanks for the check on the pipeline, Dean. I sell BMW cars, and I just can't understand how dealers don't know when their allocation is coming. Each month we get our 'order' allocation around the last week of the month - for the month two months ahead....e.g.: we get March production at the end of January. It seems odd the Motorrad is different. Kevin8 |

Kevin, er....ah....Motorad is not different, its just that a lot of BMW dealers have their head up and locked.
One of the many things that BMW Corporate is slowly doing is to bring the same level of professionalism to Motorad as they have in the auto side.
