One fast lap does NOT a race win. We know the hp is available. It's not getting the S1000RR close to the pole position. Corser finished in the top ten due to crashes.

Read the article, champ. It's got nothing to do with WSBK or Troy Corser.

If it's Corser that you wish to discuss, I was in his garage last weekend in Phillip Island for about 15 minutes after race 2 speaking to his mechanics. Troy was giving a post race debrief to his engineers and I heard most of it. I also had a chat to Pitt's crew, who are running close to a Superstock bike in terms of engine work.

As for your point about Corser's finishing position...Now, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but finishing in the top ten 'due to crashes' is as good as a top ten without your rivals crashing. Racing is a competitive pursuit where you must finish the race to get a place. If you sit on the limit on every corner entry and exit, you will crash. I'm sure Troy could lead the race for 2 laps on the absolute limit, then crash. But that is not the object of racing.

If we use your reasoning, Lorenzo only won Indy last year because Pedrosa and Rossi crashed. Valentino Rossi only won Laguna '08 because Casey crashed. But what you're not considering is that the aim of the race is not to lead, or cut quick laps, then crash out. The aim of racing is to finish the race in the best position possible.

I don't own a S1RR. In fact, I own a 2 stroke 250 race bike and a Suzuki DRZ400e. But credit should be given where it is due.

As long as you were back there in the pits, what did you hear about the problem with qualifiers. Corser knows that to really take this bike to the next level the Superpole problem must be solved. And I think you're talking to the wrong person, mate. Maybe you need to whisper the part about finishing the race, or for that matter being able to even start it, to Ruben Xaus. Corser is pulling his weight just fine;but, the guy riding 111 is wadding them up like a bad newspaper. Thanks for the tutorial on the object of a race. But, the key to BMW success lies in mastering the Superpole. It's a lot easier to win in clean air. But, you and I both already know that. BTW, I did read the article. BMW's putting all their $$$'s on WSBK not AMA and that's why I went back the the real focus for the S1000RR. I don't doubt that the bike is fast.

I'm not sure if it was an essential trait of the bike, or just the set up, but he was talking quite a bit about having real issues with the bike leaned over when it went over bumps.

He said he was having to stand it up a bit over bumps because it made the bike quite unstable.

He spoke a lot about the differences between set up between race 1 and 2, and they were discussing the changes that were effective, but most of their discussion was which changes they think should carry over into the next round, with a lot of the discussion centred around the first problem I mentioned.

It was pretty interesting, I also had a long chat with the Alstare Suzuki guys. They reckon the Aprilia is rebuilt every 500km(compared to 4000km for their bike!)...

Dean, I'm hearing rebound problem when heeled over. That explaines the unbelievable drifting the S1RR is doing. I'd like to see some pics of the takeoff's after the race.

Inferno, your comments are very helpful figuring out the WSB situation. Much appreciated. Here in the land of the Harley, we're not seeing many RR's yet. Production may be a problem, because only a few are available to high volume dealers until late summer. Doesn't make sense after receiving all that free press across the globe recently. AMA racing here may see a few brave privateers with deep pockets, but the official word is baffling.

Kudos to Iron Horse/Evan Steel Performance for stepping up. Peris is a great rider, and lots of eyes will be on this effort here in the race support-starved USA. Please keep your comments coming. G'day.
