Is there a specific place to find a used Cayman for sale
I know where to look here in Pelican but for 914 guys we have 914world and other sites that give us the ability to find these gems outside of eBay, carfax, car gurus and the rest of them
Yeah I'm looking but I will be headed over to the WTB section here real quick. Another sites you can think of would be great. Funny note..... on car Gurus there was only one car out of the 50 I looked at that was a single owner car. Most were 3-5 owners. One was 7. Geezzz Dave |

Check out Planet-9.
But you'll find lots of Caymans on autotempest.com or autotrader.com.

PCA, Craigslist, Car Gurus.
Shop 2009 or later for a bulletproof ride.

Caymans and Boxsters tend to have lots of owners - it's the nature of 2-seaters. They're bought on a whim and something changes with their lifestyle - they get engaged or married, have multiple kids, lose their job, get divorced, don't need a 3rd w/e car, or find a 2-seater impractical. Whatever the reason, a 2-seater doesn't fit their lifestyle. Sometimes cars that are leased and then "bought" by the leasee will show as 2 owners on the carfax.

I was the third owner on both mine and they were only about 5 years old when I bought them. I know one is at least at 5 now and running fine. A good PPI can tell if the car has been cared for and that is the important thing.
I too was a 914 owner, back when they first came out and there were no parts for them or service technicians trained. I still look at the ads today. Not exactly $3600 are they. |

After two purchases on eBay that weren’t as advertised I posted here and found just what I was looking for. Good owner, great car, and it’s been a few year since. It was a 2 year search...
Good luck

I got mine on www.bringatrailer.com which tends to drift to higher prices, but usually good cars. I like the activity on the PCA Forums for Boxster/Caymans, which you might want to check out. www.caymanregister.com

Thank you all for the great information. Bought a 2006 S last week. I'm blown away. That's all I can say. Has the PASM, short shifter, crones pkg, leather, 19" wheels and a SWEET Borla Stainless S exhaust that sounds glorious. No drone like my old M3 with the Borla had at 80 MPH.... had to wear ear plugs and even then you felt it in your gut. This Cayman exhaust from Borla is well designed. So I did join planet 7 or whatever it was. I also joined the Cayman Registry where it looks like some good info is. What does amaze me though is and perhaps it's because the 914 and 911 community have been around forever and so many DIY guys/gals with tons of experience you can literally find anything and everything regarding fixes, problems or whatever. Finding detailed info on the Cayman has been challenging for me but I'm sure it's out there.
One thing that get's me is there's NO shop manual.... like a physical book/manual. Ok, I guess I'm a dinosaur but give me the damn book please. Hopefully Bentleys or some other source might produce something by the time I want to rebuilt the engine. I don't want my computer on my bench when I'm fixing stuff. (Get off my lawn says the old bastard). Jake... used your CD to rebuild my 73 914 2.0 Perhaps you can do a 987 rebuild CD for us???

Great looking car....I know what you mean about a tech manual/book, I'm the same way....so far, beyond buying into an online tech manual the youtube source is the only one I've found.

Nice car!, Post your questions here, it's the only way we can keep these old ones (:O) alive. I've done most of the work on my 06 and it's pretty simple - other than having computers.

I bought one on Vroom and it was delivered today...as described and it great shape. The nice thing was they gave me more on my Caddy trade in than anyone else offered by 1k...dropped off the Porsche and took the Caddy.
Nervy buying 'online' but this one worked. Very base 718 2018 with 4300 miles on it and 6 speed m. I wanted the least amount of widgets and it took some time to find one...20 in wheels tho….chalk with black/white interior. Nice counter point to the old 911 SC...
