CDR-220 Sound System Display Dark
Hello, I have a 2002 Boxster S with the stock sound system with the removable face plate. The problem I have is the display does not light up, but I can see very faintly a small difference in contrast if I turn the unit on and off. Anyone ever experience this? Is it a matter of lamps that need replacing? Fuse? I thought I'd ask the membership for first notions of what this might be...any help appreciated. Thanks!!! Doug

There's a cost/benefit question which needs to be considered. You can buy a replacement radio with more features (better sound, blue-tooth, Satellite, etc) for as low as $40. Is it worth fixing or would it be cheaper, easier and provide a better solution to just replace the CDR-220.
Where are you located? If you want to maintain the originality, I'm pretty sure that there will be forum members who have a CDR-220 that they will be willing to sell you for small money.

Reason for CDR-220
The main reason is keeping originality. I am not all that interested in music in the car anymore, I like the gear whine and the exhaust note more than mind blaster music constantly. On the other hand, I do listen to talk radio and occasionally a local classical station.
I am in Dallas, Texas. So if anyone has an OE system they have just lying around, let me know if they'd like to sell. Thanks! D |
