987.1 Engine Swap complete
Hi,
I recently replaced my 3.4L in my 2006 Cayman S w/tiptronic with a 3.4L from a 2008 Cayman s w/ manual. It was a 50k mi drop out from a wrecking yard. I swapped out the wiring harness and bolted it up (with a new torque converter) It seems to run perfectly except for the fact that it dramatically lacks power in the midrange, ~2500-5500 rpms. Any insights? Valve adjusters are clicking and so are the intake tube butterflies. Computer? I sort of assumed I wouldn't need any computer changes, am I wrong? Thanks Matt, first time poster. |

As far as the whether the DME needs a flash or not you might give Scott at Softronics a call. He can tell you if it needs one or not. Considering the RPM effected it does sound like cam solenoid problems but with these cars it could be just about anything.

2002 base model Boxster with tiptronic needs a replacement engine. Will any 2.7 manual engine fit will the original ECU work?
