Connection plug and door handle

I did some work on the lock assembly of my 1999 Boxster and in putting the pieces back together, I can't get the little handle screw into the connector plug. Since the space is so tight and I have big pudgy fingers, it's impossible to balance the screw end, plug and retainer, end my one hand together!

Does anyone have a solution for this issue? I can't be theonly one who spent a whole day cursing this!!
