07 Cayman S

New to the club. Picked up my first cayman about a week ago. Absolutely love this car.

I did a few things to if over the long weekend

Removed all the window tint

Lowered it done to my liking

Installed a new exhaust. Which sounds and preforms sooo much better

Switched out the steering wheel

Before

Now

Jeremy, how hard was it to remove the tint off the back window? Any damage to the defroster grid lines?

Love the Cayman Jeremy. What years are those VW's in the driveway?

If you use a heat gun it removes really easy without any residue or damage to the heat strips. If glue residue stays on the glass use some 3m adhesive removed and a rag.

I wasn’t a fan of the lower springs I put on. So I got a set of coilovers

Welcome to the club. My daughter has an 07 base Cayman that I help keep on the road. They are great little cars. Couldn’t help but notice the 911. What year is it? I have an 82 SC.

It looks more great without tint. Thanks for sharing the tip on how you removed the tint. I'm going to try it out on one of my cars.

very nice cars there.
My wife has wanted a Cayman since they first appeared. Might look into an early model.nWe've had 911s, vws, and now I drive a 986 S which is a terrific little ride.

Used Cayman have gone up in price and so have used Boxsters. I have had in the past ten years a 99 Miata, a 2001 Boxster base and a 2013 Miata NC. I really miss the Boxster but my next one would be a Cayman. My wife would kill me though if I got one....

we were in an event at Atlanta Motor Speedway for Porsches only.I had not seen a cayman up close until then , we drove our 78 911 there and back and on the track at about 100 mph up sideways on the thing.Anyway we fell in love with the Cayman's looks. My car was a slicktop sc and the cayman resembled it a lot.One could be our next ride along side my 2000 S 986.
if I can find one in a decent price range that is.

When I test drove a manual water cooled 911(cannot remember the year) it did not seem that fast. I test drove a 2001 Boxster and fell instantly in love with its handling and nimbleness. Yes the Cayman would be ideal for me.

Early cars with the M97 engine (through 2008) have some oiling issues when tracked. They are quite reliable for street use. The IMS bearing is not a problem, and the 2.7 in the Base is not really susceptible to bore scoring (per Jake Raby). Pretty solid car, overall.

Oh, make sure you see a DME over-rev report for any manual transmission car.

I'm going to be looking for one myself as soon as I sell my '72 911T (will be for sale early next year).

thanks for that,I figured an 07 08 carwoukd be s fine choice, after all I drove my 911 often , sometimes daily for 27 years with little or no problems.I will always miss the air cooled sounds, and the great fun of that car.But life moves on. My boxster is quite enjoyable, the day after purchase we drove it 6 hours to the beaches, and top was down for a week.On the twisty roads around my home it is a pleasure.
