Boxster top opened on it's own
My wife came home today and said that while she was driving, the top tried to open on it's own. She said she thought a tree fell on her. I can assume that sound were the plastic ball cups breaking on the arms. She said she saw the top cowl or whatever it is called opened up and down. She said nothing was on the switch and it was just random.
I thought these only opened when the car was stopped and the parking brake was up. It has been raining for the last couple of days but she said the floor was dry. I haven't gone to look at it yet but thought this was very odd. My current thought process is that maybe the previous owner bypassed the brake being up to open/close the top and something got wet. It is a 2005 987. Has anyone heard or had this happen before? BTW, I just got that damn top perfectly adjusted! I had to remove it to install the hardtop mounts! I am glad a bought a few spares for those ball cup things. I have gone through 3 of them in the last year while I learned how to adjust the top. |

Turns out I was right. My wife didn't check the carpet behind the driver's seat. It was soaked. Rear control module was obvious wet. Last night I noticed all three rear brake lights on randomly and the top mech trying to run.
Gotta dry it out and see if I need to replace it. |
