Icky burning smell... hydraulic fluid?

So from time to time I get this nasty smell in the car. I'm guessing that's it's hot/burning hydraulic fluid, or something similar, that's what a couple other people thought as well.

I did notice when I had the thing in service position playing with vacuum hoses for the secondary air injection that there is a cap that says "Hydraulic Oil Only", that is was slightly moist looking, and that there is a 2-3" hose that looks like a breather hose coming out beside of it.

If so, is the hose supposed to have a filter on the end, or be plugged into something, and could it be spitting out fluid which then gets heated up/burned on the top of the engine?

Sounds like the vent tube for the power steering reservoir. If so there is a short black rubber hose that goes nowhere, with nothing on the end as it is a vent.

Yep, that's exactly the one I was thinking of, and mine is a little wet just like that one is as well.

So maybe that's not it, haven't read about anything that seems similar anywhere just yet. Or maybe it could be it, and mine is just getting a little farther down somewhere and burning up.
