Boxster oil change
I've been told that only the left side of the car needs to be raised to drain the oil and change the filter? sounds too good to be true...

That's right...I jack up the left side, crawl under there, undue the plug and filter then lower it back down so it's level. Let drain for 30 min jack it back up with a good floor jack button it up and you're all done. It's very easy.

P_D, thanks for the explanation. Too simple! But it makes good sense. My SC, even lowered, I could get it done without any lifting, but this boxster's another deal entirely. Thanks again.

Since my floor jack is too high, I just backed the Boxster up on ramps. Good access to drain plug and oil filter. Found it easier than jacking. Have fun and have a large capacity oil pan, it comes out quick!

Thanks, Murph, when you back the car onto the ramps, do you need to raise the front to level it out?

I usually put the ramps just outside the garage, where the driveway has a slight downward angle. I have not raised the front of the car. I use the Rhino ramps, not a severe rise to cause any problems with retained oil. I change the Boxster every 5,000 miles with Mobil 1 0-40W and a new filter.
