advice on purchasing a boxster

i currently have a 914, but i'm looking to purchase a 1997 to 2001 boxster. i don't know a lot about the boxster and NEED help. are there any articles out there that discuss the good and bad points about these year boxsters? are there any potential problems know to those years? how about costs of ownership as compared to typical cars such as a VW or Chevy car?

I have found a 2001 boxster with about 47,000 miles from a dealership for $22000-is that fair or are there better deals out there? i am looking for a yellow one, so my choices are limited. thanks for the help. jason.

Sounds high, unless it's loaded and has an extended warranty and PPI, even then I'd check autotrader if I were you. Many issues to watch for, so many if you read them all you would never buy a boxster, then again I've yet to have an issue. Search on , RMS and engine failure to get a flavor, good luck.

You might look at Mike Focke's Web page on buying a Boxster:

http://mike.focke.googlepages.com/buyingorsellinga1997-2004boxster

We have an '02 S and wouldn't get one older than '03 S in the future. The prices are down right now and if you catch a deal before the warm weather you may save a few $$$.

Good luck,

Ed

FYI I'll be selling mine this summer. I live in West Chester. You're welcome to drop by this weekend for a chat, even if you're not interested in buying mine. (..mine's blue, not yellow.) It's supposed to be nice, so I plan on giving her a good bath so I can shoot pics for my ads. Feel free to shoot me an e-mail at home or work (doug_n_julie@msn.com or dcole@phoenixformations.com).
