electronic dipstick?????
How reliable/accurate is the electronic oil level guage on a 987?
There is no other way to check the oil, so I'm hoping that is accurate. ![]() more questions to come......

You don't have a choice.... I understand that they are very reliable, I have a 986 which has both and after repeatedly double checking the gage with the stick it was 100% accurate every time over the past 2 years

I also was skeptical about the accuracy of the electronic gauge, I'm old school, but have kept a close eye on the dipstick for 5 months now and has been as Harry said, 100% all the time.
Hope it helps ease your fears. (I have a 2000 986 w/2.7) |

Yes, it should be pretty accurate, I haven't heard of failures of this part where it indicates "full of oil" when it should indicate "no oil".
