Anybody else had issues with Brad Roberts Automotive Group?
I have started the process of building a Boxster Spec Racer and consequently ordered and paid for over $10000 worth of parts from BRAG in mid January. Bits and piece have shown up over the month in no particular order but he still owes me several thousand dollars and now he won't respond to emails or calls to his office, his cell phone answer box is full and texting elicits no response either.
Anybody had a similar experience? At this stage I am worried that I have been screwed. Laurie

I haven't seen Brad in years but I have read about him since. He is an unusual person to say the least. Used to be heavily involved in 914's, so a visit to the various 914 boards might bring some current information.
A few years back he had some legal problems stemming from what was allegedly a stolen factory 914-6. I always thought it was a shady deal concerning all parties involved. You can find copious info regarding that debacle on the 914 BBS's. I hope BR comes thru for you because he is a talented racer and builder. I didn't say the best, but he sure never shied away from projects. IMHO, he is a bit of a BS artist, but that alone doesn't make anyone a crook. Again, I hope he is going to ship out what your ordered or refund the money. Just curious, why did you pick him over some of the other Boxster Spec outfits? |

Thanks for the response. As it turned out I heard from Brad within hours of this post going up - not sure if that was a coincidence or not. At this stage it seems like all will be resolved. I will keep you all informed.
As to why I went with him. When I first spoke to him he sounded very knowledgable on the subject and he appeared to offer everything I needed at reasonable prices. I still believe this all to be true but in my case I was let down by less than perfect customer service. Hopefully all can be resolved and hopefully Brad will get his own act together and no one else will suffer as I did.

Brad is one of those guys who genuinely means the best in all that he does. IMO, his biggest problem is that he has a tendency to overcommit. Brad is the guy who would promise you the shirt off his own back while forgetting that he previously gave it to someone else.

We were trying to order parts from him last winter. Around December/Jan he stopped answering emails, and shut down his website, which was unfortunate because he also deleted the Spec-boxster BBS, and thousands of posts. Lots of great info gone.

I think I saw where he sold the site. I don't know where you might find the info. I just spent about a hour reading all of his post on 986.org. The man knows his stuff.

Hello fellas, my name is Sam, I own the oldest 914 /6 in the world. I know brad roberts and he is a thief, I know this as a fact, he stole my car. It took 18 month to recover it from that POS. I am not saying he is not a friendly, helpful con man with a great personality; let me be clear he is a bully and a convicted thief. The first thing he did when I contacted him about my car was to try to intimidate the fellow who told me about him. You see back then he had a bunch of followers that thought he was the greatest guy (all of which he ended up ripping off) but they would flame the hell out of anyone that would speak the truth about him.
I am not a big fellow I stand about five foot tall my nephew is a couple inches taller, I taught my nephew how to handle himself when he was a young man today he has a dojo in Las Vegas where he instructs martial arts, the point is, there are folks that do not intimidate. There is working man in the UK being ripped off by this jerk there are others also, he has not changed. Never buy from him. If you have been ripped off by this jerk contact me I will be happy to get you in contact with the fraud division of the San Bernardino sheriffs dept. Write me at samcharters@aol.com lets put some more felony convictions on his ass and get rid of him. |

Not this old crap again! I have known Brad Roberts for a long time. Tremendous car guy - loves 914s and Boxsters. Knows his stuff. He was an invaluable resource for many (myself included) and assisted me in doing a complete restoration of my 1973 914 2.0 - including helping me find lots of impossible to find parts - NOS stuff - and also has been a great resource in keeping my 2002 Boxster S on the road and track! The whole deal with that piece of crap 914/6 is one long and sad tale. Sam - why don't you show the world the tremendous restoration job you have done? Did you ever explain how you acquired title to the car from the Porsche factory?
