Stereo upgrade question
I really want a stock deck with a Cassette player.. Yeah I said cassette! lolz
I want to use my tape adapter and plug it into my iPhone so I can listen to my Pandora. I found one with a CD changer on CL and was wondering if the 2000 Porsche 996 model would be a PLUG and PLAY installation? THANKS for looking! |

I see what you're trying to do, but those tape adapters are not really the best solution. Check out the DICE FM Modulator I installed in my Boxster in the article here: Pelican Technical Article: Changing Your Boxster Stereo Head Unit / Installing Boxster Ipod Integration - 986 / 987 I think it's a much cleaner installation.
That said, to answer your original question, yes the radio from a 2000 996 with a tape player in it should work fine. My wife's Boxster has the CD Changer in the front trunk and the tape player behind the faceplate. -Wayne

Thanks Wayne!
I found one for a great price. The tape deck is located above the face plate so it wouldn't be so bad. I have the stock cd player now and can't wait to listen to my Pandora soon!! Thanks again! Love the forum and the great advice from all the members! |

Wayne..
Do you happen to have a picture of under the trunk? I have an AMP behind the spare and not sure if there was another place that would be good. |

I've got 3,000 photos on the 101Projects.com site, under Bonus Pics: 101 Projects for Your Porsche Boxster
You can probably find one there - check the Litronic installation project. -Wayne

Well I bought the deck today
it's a CR-210. The faceplate on this deck also works with my old deck, which is a good thing because I can test it to see if the LCD screen is any good. I forgot to ask for the security code and when I call the guy back he has no idea. He said he'll look for it but if he doesn't find it do I have any other options? Can anyone help me get a CODE for my deck? Model #BE2182 Serial# V5008413 Thanks guys (and gals) |

If you have the VIN from the original car it came from, then you can get it from Porsche...

If someone sells a radio without the code, then I consider that the same as the radio being broken.
