engine light
my 97 boxster ran great for 6 weeks it now back fires; codes say too much air ,changed fuel filter my ? is do the codes tell you whats wrong or do they only point you in the general direction my mechanic seem unsure of how to proceed , any help or ideas would be of help

The code either gives a specific cause or a list of causes. This is followed by a flow chart diagram saying look at this first, this second etc. Then there are expected values and tools needed for specific tests descriptions. Does your mechanic have a book like that (DME diagnostic manual) from Porsche? A PST2 or PIWIS test computer?
Can he at least give you the 4 digit P-code? Post it and we'll give you possibilities or even better search for that code using the forum's search capability. Not likely it is a new one and some one has probably already posted their solution. Last edited by mikefocke; 07-17-2011 at 08:30 AM.. |
