Straps under car cover

I have a OEM Boxster car cover that has 2 black straps where the hood is. Attached on the end are 2 black plastic rings. Can anyone kindly tell me what the straps are for and if the attach somewhere?

Well I have one too and asked this same question on three different forums about six months ago and got zero answers. I called the dealer and no one knew other than "they are some kind of safety device." The instructions, that came with the cover, are also no help as they are barely mentioned and there is no diagram showing how to install the cover. Here's what I came up with, if you feel the straps there is a wire in them that prevents anyone cutting the strap with a knife and the round plastic piece keeps the strap from being pulled out of the frunk when closed, so the straps go into the frunk, the frunk is closed and the cover is put on and the car locked (yes the remote works with the cover on.) That's my conclusion and the way I install mine.

That sound reasonable and along the lines of what I thought. I also thought I may be missing an extention and they hook underneath. Another problem I have is the wind blows this around pretty good. Enough where it has left suff marks that need buffed.
