This is a great forum.
My 2001 Boxster S top suddenly stopped working. It is in the up / closed position. When I release the top windshield lever, the windows lower an inch like normal, but when I press the dash mounted switch, nothing happens. I think this may be a switch but I don't know how to diagnose this. Please offer a suggestion. Thanks, __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: Pelican Technical Article: Boxster Convertible Top Repair - 986 / 987 |

There are a few switches that could be causing this issue. There's one in the back by the motor. There's one in the top of the windshield, and then there's one on the e-brake. I would probably check out all three of these first before moving onto the next step.

Is the parking brake dash light ON when you pull the brake lever, if not, then the parking brake microswitch could be the culprit! just happened to me 6-7weeks ago.
Good luck! keep us posted... |

If it does end up being the parking brake switch, you can take the no cost route and ground it at the relay so you avoid the need to have the parking brake engaged.

How do you ground it at the relay? What pin to what pin? In Bentley, EWD-89, appears parking brake is marked A5, BN/YE. Just attach that to any ground?
