Major Service - Before or After Winter?
I'm at 39k miles and due for a major service on my 2006 Cayman S. But it's mid-November and I'm very close to putting it away for the winter. To be fair, I'm going over-inflate the tires and put a trickle charger on it. That's it. I'll probably get it out on decent days throughout the winter for drives long enough to truly warm up the car. But that might be once or twice a month. So my question is would it be better to hold off on the 40k service until Spring? ..or should I do it before Winter anyway? I know it's recommended to change the oil before "storage", so I'm leaning toward the later. But my wallet would prefer the former.

OK, I've just booked the service for "before", but I'd still like to hear your thoughts.

Most suggest changing your oil before winter storage. Water and fuel contamination in your old oil is the enemy. If moisture collects at the bottom of the case over winter it may begin to corrode the IMS bearing causing early failure. Take your car for a spirited drive and get the oil nice and hot. Then have your oil changed and put her away with a clean crankcase.
