I have a 2000 boxster s with 45k miles and just had the clutch replaced about 3 weeks ago. Now the shift lever will only operate R, 1st & 2nd. I'm being told in needs a new clutch cable assembly. Can this be a result of damage during the clutch replacement or improper installation?

Hmm, the Boxster doesn't have a clutch cable, so whomever told you that really has no idea what they are talking about. To me, it sounds like indeed, there is something wrong with the release of the clutch - maybe the clutch hydraulics need to be rebled. If the clutch is not disengaging, and you keep driving the car in this condition, then you will put a lot of wear on your transmission.
