Drivers door window problem

I just bought my 2000 Boxster S. Tonight I parked the car and opened the drivers door to get out. When I did the window dropped the small amount it does. However when I closed the door the window dropped about 4-6 inches. I had to get back in the car, roll up the window and this time when I got out and closed the door the window stayed up. What is the problem? Is a window position memory reset needed (done by closing the window a few times, right?) or problematic regulator coming? Thanks!

possibly the roof latch sensor is failing. Mine has worn out and periodically makes the windows come down when a big jolt happens (potholes).
try checking to make sure the latch is closed properly.
