IMS bearing - oil drain
Is it possible to cross drill the IMS so as to drain stale oil from the inside of the bearing?
ie oil that has got past the two seals. Is the IMS hollow? if so, how about a couple of radial relief drain holes ? |

If oil is getting in, do you really want it forced out through relief holes thus running the bearings with little lubrication? The problem isn't too much oil in but not enough. Witness the LN and Hartech approach of using no inner seal and thus letting oil splash lube and cool the bearing.

If oil has made it past the seals the IMS bearing has already progressed through the first stage of failure.

That would also airate the oil, further taxing the AOS and causing other issues, if you drilled the IMS.
