I just purchased a 2000 Boxster S with very low miles. PPi checked out great but on the way to the shop the CEL came on. The shop said the code was because of the test pipes the PO installed in place of the secondary cats and they reset the CEL. The PO swore up and down that the CEL never came on before and that the pipes had been on for 10 years, he even gave me the original cats. The light came on again after about 30 miles. My question is will the test pipes cause the CEL to come on or do I have another problem? besides that my wife loves the car and so do I. Anybody want to buy an EVO with 11000 miles?
Thanks for the help ![]()

Cat-bypass pipes will not set a CEL for downstream o2 sensors. The o2 sensors only monitor the primary cats (the ones built into the headers). Did the dealer give you a specific code number?
