OBC Upgrade: 2001 Boxster - Not completely successful
After getting a great deal on all of the stuff needed for this project I decided to go ahead and do it. I started early in the day, and took my time as to not damage or miss anything. After a through and methodical several hours, I reconnected the battery only to find less than satisfactory results:
*The check oil graphic comes on and blinks until you press the OBC stalk, then it changes to "000 miles". *The fuel gauge reads "0" and the "reserve" light is on. *Turn signals are not displayed on the instrument cluster, and there is the absence of a "clicking" sound when actuated. *The "low washer fluid" light is on. (washer fluid is not low) Has anybody had a similar experience? ANY help is greatly appreciated.. |
While this seems like it may be a serious problem on the surface, I'm guessing that one or more of your connectors is not properly seated in the rear. I would take a closer look at them and make sure they are connected properly.

Actually, I'd look for two crossed wires; that is exactly what happens when you get two connections messed up...............

I was very methodical in doing this that's why I'm kina' freaked out....
I will set some time aside do troubleshoot.. Thanks Guys! |

Pulled everything apart and double checked the wires and they are 100% correct as per the DIY..... The OBC works though.................. I am at a loss at this point........................ |
Is there more that needs to be done on the PIWIS programing?
|
sounds more like a bad cluster to me .....
|
one of the 3 modex style connectors on the back of the instrument cluster was not fully seated even though the black "cam lock" mechanism was in the "locked position"
After reseating these 3 connectors numerous times, I removed the "cam lock" from the suspect connector pushed it in and it worked..:o Many thanks to Wayne at Pelican Parts...... |
Just when I thought it could not get any worse... the hot water heater ruptured about 4 feet from me, flooding the area in which I was working
with about 1/2" of water... Putting in a new unit this afternoon..... |
