thank you for the information,on the maf in my car. Before it was changed the car ran at peak power levels through out the curve. The only problem was that when the car was cold and first started in the morning it would pop like it was starving for fuel or air.I bring my car to a porsche only shop and know where else, the owner of the shop wasnt there when his guy changed the maf he told me he had the next upgrade sensor and installed it.The car ran like a bat out of hell when I left the shop.I drove the car approx 30 miles.stopped by to see a fellow pca member at his dealership to look at a used cayman r I was there about 15 to 20 mins and left then I stopped about 1 mile down the road for gas. When I left there I got about 25 mls from home and the car started to lose power then kick back in I started to think that the gas had water in it.I called the shop and the owner told me to bring the car back as soon as possible. When I got home total trip from the shop to my house is about 70 miles I parked the car and a few hours latter I used it to go to the store and when I started it I got the pop pop then full throttle pop pop full throttle.I have driven the car hard over a couple of days and the power is not there.as of 09/29/2012 last knight I took the car on a 60 mile round trip I noticed the car wasn't running at max performance.I made a couple of stops on my way home and was sitting at a traffic light and when I took off I hit a flat spot at 3 grand on the tach like as if I hit redline and got the rev limiter shut down then it changed to between 3 to anywhere up to 4 grand then the car would take of but still no wheres at peak performance. After reading your project 27 and having the mech tell me he used the up graded sensor I'm thinking he didn't run the flash on DME.Will not doing this hurt the DME or burn out the new sensor

Using a non-stock sensor wil factory software can lead to problems. But this will not ruin the sensor, unless the sensor wiring configuration is dirrefent. Might be worth having the DME updated and seeing how it runs. Have you tested your fuel delivery system?
