Battery currently on "tender" and failed

Question - Apparently my battery was "going home" when I plugged in the charge-o-mat and i looked in on it today and opened the frunk and heard a sizzling sound. anyway, I disconnected everything and let it rest for a bit and then went back out and turned the key and got all sorts of messages. driver windoww went down too. question is do I check the water in the moll battery and try to charge or just get a new bat now so I can raise the window etc? it is under cover..in the shop..

Did you use a charger or a tender? A charger will cook the battery if you leave it on long enough but the tender will not charge the battery. It will just maintain the battery to account for drain from electronic current draw.

porsche maintainer.. researching is I have one bad "cell". Original battery from 2006 so I know it is time. The question is now, or ina few weeks when we have driving weather... But the window is down under the cover too. So I think I will go ahead and get the new Bat.

A 7 year old battery? Surprised it lasted that long. It's way overdue for replacement. And no need to get a Porsche battery. One from a local auto parts store will work just as well and be cheaper.
